The Herbs
After you have finished your delicious cup of tea, the used herbs can be composted and the strainer rinsed to be used again.

-
Bring water to boil and let cool, aiming for 190 degrees F. Put 1-2 TSP of tea into a strainer. Put the strainer in your favorite tea cup. Pour water over and steep for 5 minutes. Steep longer for stronger tea. Drink and Enjoy!
-
Remove the screw band, cheesecloth, lid, and wax paper. Fill the jar with your olive oil, vinegar, or liquor. Replace wax paper, lid, cheesecloth, and screw band in that order. Let it infuse for up to four weeks, shaking gently once a day. Taste periodically until the desired flavor is reached. Once you like the flavor, strain using the cheesecloth and a funnel into a clean, dry bottle. Store in a cool, dark cabinet. Use your new olive oil, vinegar, or liquor as you normally would. Eat, drink, cook, enjoy!
Shelf-life:
Olive oil - 6 months
Vinegar - 1 to 5 years
Liquor - 5+ years -
Pixie Doodle Farm currently sources from wonderful, reputable herbal companies. Most of our herbs come from Starwest Botanicals and Mountain Rose Herbs. All of our herbs are USDA-certified organic but our products themselves are not certified at this time. We have land in Bethel, NY that we are turning into our dream homestead and herbal garden. Eventually, we would like to grow some of our favorite herbs for our products. However, there are many herbs that require very specific climates that we will not be able to replicate upstate NY. If you have further questions about sourcing particular herbs please email us at pixiedoodlefarm@gmail.com.
If you are an herb gardener and interested in supplying us with your herbs, we would love to speak with you! We hope to connect with more local herb growers to help support our NY communities.
We currently do not accept wild-crafted herbs due to their tendencies of over-harvesting. Please see this website for at-risk herbs.
