How do I make a cup of tea?
Many of our customers have not had the pleasure of loose-leaf tea before, we are happy to share our tips. Bring water to a boil and let cool, aiming for 190 degrees Fahrenheit. Put 1-2 TSP of tea into a strainer. Put the strainer in your favorite teacup. Pour water over and steep for 5 minutes. Steep longer for stronger tasting tea. Drink and Enjoy!
Tip: Cover the teacup as it steeps to trap the aromatic essential oils
All of our tea can be enjoyed with this method and we find it is the best way to create a habit of drinking tea. Once you are comfortable with making a cup of tea, try making a large infusion batch on the stove (great with our Anahata Tea) or a decoction (best with roots and seeds) of our Winter Tea.

Why are your teas pricier than others?
Pixie Doodle Farm is a micro business. Everything is made in small batches with high-quality, organic-certified ingredients. We are very proud to make each product by hand without using any machinery. Each herb in every bottle is weighed to the one-hundredth of a gram to ensure consistent flavor and benefit. We are an Eco-conscious company with sustainable packaging using compostable, reusable, and recycled materials and avoiding all plastics. Our products are sold in glass vials, bottles, and jars. These items cost a lot but they are what is best for people and the planet. We believe in fair wages for workers and we support the local economy. We are people and planet above profit.

Should I be concerned about contraindications?
We believe in the power of herbs. There is much history about the use of herbs as medicine and our practice of herbalism inspires our blends. We create blends centered around tonic herbs, meaning they are considered generally safe for the public, surrounded by supporting herbs. Be aware, even popular herbs like hibiscus can have profound effects on the body. We strongly suggest speaking with your physician if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on any medications.

Is your tea caffeinated?
No, we do not currently sell any caffeinated tea. Our favorite caffeine-free, yet stimulating tea, is our Ajna Tea (6th Chakra). Containing Schisandra Berry, it provides alertness to help you focus and concentrate.

Do you wholesale?
Yes! Please email PixieDoodleFarm@gmail.com to request a wholesale line sheet. We also offer herbs in bulk for retail and wholesale.
-
Where are your herbs sourced?
Pixie Doodle Farm currently sources from wonderful, reputable herbal companies. Most of our herbs come from Starwest Botanicals and Mountain Rose Herbs. All of our herbs are USDA-certified organic but our products themselves are not certified at this time. We have land in Bethel, NY that we are turning into our dream homestead and herbal garden. Eventually, we would like to grow some of our favorite herbs for our products. However, there are many herbs that require very specific climates that we will not be able to replicate upstate NY. If you have further questions about sourcing particular herbs please email us at pixiedoodlefarm@gmail.com.
If you are an herb gardener and interested in supplying us with your herbs, we would love to speak with you! We hope to connect with more local herb growers to help support our NY communities.
We currently do not accept wild-crafted herbs due to their tendencies of over-harvesting. Please see this website for at-risk herbs.

How long do your products last?
The shelf life of tea and dried herbs is generally 1-2 years. However, these products will not “go bad” as they have no moisture. They will lose potency the longer they sit unused. The rule is, if you can still smell it, it still has benefits.
For Pixie Doodle Potions after they have been infused, please see the shelf life below.
Olive oil - 6 months
Vinegar - 1 to 5 years
Liquor - 5+ yearsTo prolong shelf life, store products in a sealed container in a dark cabinet.

How-to Pixie Doodle Potion
Remove the screw band, cheesecloth, lid, and wax paper. Fill the jar with your olive oil, vinegar, or liquor. Replace wax paper, lid, cheesecloth, and screw band in that order. Let it infuse for up to four weeks, shaking gently once a day. Taste periodically until the desired flavor is reached. Once you like the flavor, strain using the cheesecloth and a funnel into a clean, dry bottle. Store in a cool, dark cabinet. Use your new olive oil, vinegar, or liquor as you normally would. Eat, drink, cook, enjoy!
